(WHAS11) -- Technology makes your life easier, but how about making you healthier?
At the Consumer Electronics Show happening in Las Vegas right now, there is a new wave in the fast-growing space where teach and health intersect.
Technology and health have long been intertwined; Pushing forward to develop new ways for doctor to treat patients, but it's being taken to a whole new level.
Exhibits at the 2013 show offer more ways than ever for consumers to take health and tech into their own hands.
"Consumers are finding these devices incredibly valuable and they're really motivating people to live healthier lives. You can really tell - I believe last year at CES, the space was about one-third the size of what it is today, so it's growing really, really quickly," said one representative.
The company Fitbit was one of the early entrants into the show in 2007. At this year's show, it's line of wireless personal fitness monitors for tracking things like steps walked, calories burned and sleep patterns has expanded, and it's gotten more company. Some are aimed at specific health problems like the iPhone-integrated tool for diabetics monitoring blood sugar.
"Now anyone who has an iPhone can monitor their blood sugar with their smart phone, they don't have to carry a separate device."
"Blood pressure monitoring, and a wireless scale that looks at your BMI, your body fat, your lean muscle mass and much much more. They all communicate via Bluetooth to our health app."
Integrating the traditional tools for measuring key metrics like weight, body composition and blood pressure with the new gadgets can now be right in your hands.
