LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- Recent reports from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety are aimed at helping parents find the safest booster seats for children.

The IIHS released ratings for 31 models of safety seats and one spokesperson said this year there are more booster seats than ever with the top rating.

Of the 31 seats tested, 19 received the highest rating.

The IIHS recommends important things to look for when picking out a seat, such as positioning of lap and shoulder belts, the child’s height and weight.

The seats that received the best rating are reportedly available in a range of prices.

Booster seats are important, the IIHS reports, and are necessary until an adult seat belt fits properly.
