SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — There will soon be twin spires in Simpsonville, symbols for shopping. The Outlet Shoppes at Louisville will be open before you know it.
“It's coming along very well. It's hard to believe they broke ground in June and here we are in early January,” City of Simpsonville city administrator David Eaton said.
Horizon Group is the developer. The open air mall will house approximately ninety shops--stores like Banana Republic , Guess, Saks Fifth Avenue and J. Crew are already confirmed tenants.
“It's over 90 percent already leased out so it's going very well. We are excited about that,” Eaton said.
Some of the stores can move in as early as April and the completion date is just a few months after that.
“They're looking to have it done by the 1st of August,” Eaton said.
Eaton says Horizon Group also owns some of the land surrounding the outlet mall.
Eaton can't give specifics yet on what businesses will move in near the mall, but he knows hotels, restaurants, and much more are on the way. The 374,000 foot mall will provide an economic boost that the city is thrilled about.
“We are talking about 1,000 new jobs and that's not counting seasonal jobs,” Eaton said.
It's an $80 million project that will change the Simpsonville exit forever.
“It’s going to be an asset not only to Simpsonville but to all of Shelbyville,” Eaton said.
The stores coming to this outlet include:
Johnston & Murphy
Jos. A Bank
Lid's Locker Room
Oshkosh B Gosh
Rack Room Shoes
Saks Fifth Avenue
White House Black Market
