LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Despite hopes for a settlement, a popular Butchertown restaurant credited with accelerating the renewal of the neighborhood is closing Saturday after three years in business.
It appears to be coming down to a landlord dispute for the Blind Pig.
The landlord said the restaurant owes nearly $40,000 in back-rent.
The owner of the restaurant tells us the landlord refused to accept the checks, but Blind Pig is being evicted.
Landlord Peyton Ray said in a statement it is due to nonpayment of rent and they were given plenty of notice.
Owner Joe Frase told us they will be open for business until Saturday night, and then he hopes to reopen somewhere else in the downtown area.
The Blind Pig received a glowing review in the New York Times shortly after it opened.
