Cherokee Park bridge to close for repairs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A bridge in Cherokee Park will close next week for repairs.

During the construction, cyclists, motorists and pedestrians will be directed to follow detours via Barrett Hill Road.

The bridge--located on Beargrass Road--will be shut down for six weeks. Repairs include removal of the asphalt surface and installation of a waterproofing membrane on the bridge arches.

The nearly $700,000 project is expected to be completed in November.
