LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Closing arguments are expected Thursday in the domestic violence trial of Jockey Robby Albarado.

Albarado did not take the stand, but his ex-girlfriend testified for more than four hours on Tuesday.

One of Albarado's friends did speak on his behalf.  Matt O’Keefe says he spoke with Albarado's accuser after the April 30 confrontation that landed Albarado in jail for assault. O'Keefe says she never mentioned an attack.

However Martinez' friend backed up her story saying the then 22-year-old sent her pictures of the bruises on her arms three days after Albarado allegedly attacked her.

Closing arguments begin Thursday morning.  Albarado faces up to a year in prison if convicted for the fourth degree assault.
