NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) – More than $3 million in legal costs has already been spent in Floyd County, Indiana to try a former Indiana State Trooper in the deaths of his wife and two kids.
Now the Floyd County Police chief says those costs could increase another million for David Camm’s third trial in August.
Camm has been convicted by a jury twice in the September 2000 slayings of his wife Kimberly and their children Bradley and Jill.
Both convictions were overturned on appeal, but Camm’s third trial is set for August.
Floyd County Police chief Ted Heavrin says the cost of paying for these trials has prevented county employees from getting raises for 6 years.
