LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A Los Angeles woman is the winner of a contest by Papa John's to create a new specialty pizza.
The Louisville, Ky.-based pizza chain announced that Barbara Hyman's "cheesy chicken cordon bleu" is the winner of Papa John's Specialty Pizza Challenge. The company says the contest attracted more than 12,000 entries on Facebook. The entries were narrowed to three finalists and were placed on the menu in early August.
Hyman's creation accounted for 45 percent of the nearly 250,000 specialty pizzas sold by Papa John's in August. It is made with spinach Alfredo sauce, chicken, ham and four types of cheeses.
Hyman's winnings include a portion of her pizza's sales up to $10,000, free Papa John's pizza for life and an appearance in a TV ad.
The chicken cordon bleu pizza will be on the Papa John's menu for one year beginning Tuesday.
