(WHAS11) - General Motors is dropping the "interim" from CEO Ed Whitacre's title.
On Monday, the automaker named Whitacre as its permanent chief executive.
The 68-year-old Whitacre has been serving as GM's interim CEO since Fritz Henderson was ousted by the board in December.
He is also the automaker's chairman.
Whitacre is the former CEO of AT&T.
