LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Developers were able to finally stabilize the buildings along Whiskey Row and said they hope to start renovations in 2014 - that's after they saved a piece of Louisville history.

Ron Carmicle with the McCall group said they saved a total of three buildings and the facades of seven more – salvaging 100 truckloads of brick, cast iron, timber and door frames during the demolition phase. Anything you name, contractors tried to preserve.

But what type of businesses will we see move in to the newly renovated Whiskey Row? Developers said they expect new bourbon or whiskey-themed restaurants and entertainment to be developed within the next year.

Developers said other businesses just down the street are very successful including the Whiskey Row lofts, Doc Crow's restaurant and the Troll Pub and believe the new businesses will bring new life to Downtown Louisville.
