(WHAS11) -- The holiday season has officially started and that means job seekers are in luck. Businesses all over the country are hiring for the busiest time of the year.

The Halloween Express store in the Jefferson Mall hired more than a dozen staff members for the eight weeks it will be open.

“We had probably a hundred people fill out applications,” said assistant store manager Scarlet Perry.

Dontez Keltee has worked at the Halloween Express for the last four years and says the income definitely helps him.

“You have to be positive. They aren’t looking for permanent jobs, but you get experience and that can help you add jobs to your applications to get a new job,” said Keltee.

According to Perry, business is booming and her employees are benefiting from the paychecks even if they are temporary.

“It might not last long, but it helps right now,” said Jessica Vaughn.

UPS in Louisville is also hiring. Jobseekers can apply for the 1,000 seasonal job opening the company has for the busy holiday shipping season.

Another place for employment opportunities is on Monday September 23. The Horseshoe Casino in New Albany has nearly two dozen permanent job openings. The job fair is at the 2125 State Street, Ste. #16, New Albany, Indiana, from 9am-3pm.
