LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A piece of the bourbon trail is coming into Louisville.

Heaven Hill Distilleries announced Thursday it will open the Evans Williams Bourbon Experience  on Main Street.

It's a major attraction that will bring tourists and revenue into the city.  Soon a vacant building on Whiskey Row will house a small distillery, offer a tour of how bourbon is made and offer plenty of bourbon products for sale. It's an idea that Minnesota tourists Rick and Cheryl Becker say would bring them back.

"It's one of the spots you'd want to see. It's known for Bourbon," tourist, Rick Becker, said.

"I think it would be a real good opportunity for people to learn more about the area and be able to sample, " Becker said.

The Evan Williams Experience will sit right in the middle of once was the heart of Whiskey Row.

"We are so pleased to be a part of this tremendous opportunity, to be a part of the growth of Whiskey Row, to be a part of our industry. It's one of the great industries of the United States," Max Shapira, President Heaven Hill Distilleries, said, "It may look like a regular old building now but when it's finished, get this, it's going to have a five story Evan Williams bourbon bottle right out front. Something that tourists will not miss."

The distillery is expected to attract 100 thousand visitors in its first year and will draw money to the city.

"It's the growth that we've talked about . It's thousands of jobs. It means additional amount of taxes to help and support various endeavors throughout the Commonwealth,"  Shapira said.

The experience will offer tours, tasting rooms and of course plenty of bourbon to enjoy.

The Evan Williams Experience is set to open in October.
