LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- (WHAS11) -- If you're job hunting, you know what it's like to send out a resume, hope for a response and not hear anything back. On Thursday hundreds of job seekers got a break from the runaround and met with more than 50 local companies looking for employees.

Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium was the site of the JobNewsLouisville.com Job Fair, the perfect place to meet a potential employer in person to show you're ready to work.

Boshanta Coleman came to the job fair looking for a career with good hours and good pay.

“I’m in need of a job. It's my first job fair and I'm pretty excited,” said Coleman.

She also knows exactly what she has to offer her future employer.

“My experience, I'm a people person. I can bring anything to the table,” said Coleman.

Coleman, along with hundreds of others went from table to table, and then found a table to sit down and apply.

“My hands are cramping. I’ve filled out like 15 applications. I'm feeling really good about this,” said Coleman.

So do employers really hire people at these job fairs?

“Insight and Time Warner Cable has over a hundred opportunities right now,” said Rob Daleo, Director of Sales at Insight Time Warner Cable.

With more than 50 different businesses at the job fair, all with immediate openings. That's easily over a thousand available local jobs, ranging from entry level to management positions.

“We need someone that's dependable, that's going to be at work on a regular basis. We have a lot of work to get done in a very short time," said UPS recruiter Laura Elmore.

Staffing agencies were there too, armed with advice for job hunters.

“Always make sure that your resume is up to date, that you have a resume [that] is electronic. Google resumes to make sure that your resume is going to stand out,” said David Rock of Kelly Services Staffing Agency.

Standing out from the large crowd of people looking for a job is tough. But the local job fair proved one thing, if you continue to seek a career here in Kentuckiana, you can find one.

“It's easy to get frustrated, but continue looking because the jobs are out here. There are plenty of employers out here looking for people just like you looking for that opportunity,” said Daleo.
