(WHAS11) -- Ford says it will begin recalling about 12,500 vehicles because child locks on the rear doors could fail, allowing kids to unlock and open back doors.

Opening and closing the doors enough times can move the mechanism from locked to unlock without warning.

The vehicles affected are the 2013 Ford Explorer, Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS that were built between November 29 and December 12 of 2012.
