LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Look for changes to IPhone screens starting in September.

According to Bloomberg, suppliers in China will begin mass production on two new IPhones next month.

The phones will have display screens that are 4.7 inches and another 5.5 inches across. That's a big leap from the 4 inch displays currently on the IPhone 5s and 5c.

Bloomberg reports the new IPhones will ship to retailers around September, and it looks like a move motivated largely by the competition.

Rival smartphones, most notably from Samsung, have been packing much larger displays in recent years and marketing them.

If the rumors are true, the bigger IPhone would nearly match the screen size of Samsung's massive Galaxy Note 3.  It has a pocket-busting 5.7-inch display.

This will be the second consecutive year Apple releases two phones. Last year, it was the 5s and the 5c.

The release is also thought to be part of a one-two punch with Apple also reportedly releasing a smart-watch this fall with a 2.5 inch screen.
