DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Beam Global Spirits & Wine has announced plans to close a Cincinnati bottling plant in 2011 and shift those operations to Kentucky.

The company said Tuesday it expects to add about 120 jobs in Kentucky by the end of 2011. Beam already employs 830 in the state.

Beam said that operations at the Cincinnati plant will halt in the second half of 2011, and the work will move to Beam plants in Frankfort and Clermont in Kentucky. Beam says there are 184 workers at the Cincinnati plant, which the company has owned since 1986. Those employees will be given a chance to apply for jobs in Kentucky.

Beam Global senior vice president Ian Gourlay says the Frankfort and Clermont facilities can absorb the work done at the Cincinnati plant along with potentially higher volumes in the future.

Beam is part of Deerfield, Ill.-based Fortune Brands Inc. Its brands include Jim Beam and Maker's Mark bourbons.
