NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Associated Press has named Teresa Wasson as news editor of Tennessee and Kentucky as part of a restructuring of U.S. news management to ensure the strength of the news cooperative's state reports.
Wasson, who has been AP news editor for Tennessee since 2008, is taking on the added responsibility as part of a larger restructuring across The Associated Press.
The Kentucky news editor position, held by Ann Gibson since 1998, was eliminated as part of the consolidation.
Wasson, 52, joined the AP in Nashville in 2000 after working as executive editor of the Pensacola (Fla.) News Journal and as a news executive with Gannett Co. in Arlington, Va. She also worked at The Tennessean in Nashville and The Jackson (Tenn.) Sun.
She is a native of Vandalia, Mo., and a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
