(NEWS RELEASE) -- The following closures and lane restrictions are expected this week and next week in connection with construction on the Downtown Crossing:
 
Work Currently Underway:
 
Louisville Streets:
•    Witherspoon Street from Adams Street to River Road is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, October 12 for pile driving in the area.
•    Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street is scheduled to be closed through Friday, October 11 for pile driving in the area.
•    The right lane and right parking lane on Market Street from Jackson Street to Hancock Street are scheduled to be closed through Friday, October 11 for pile driving in the area.
•    The left lane of Liberty Street from Floyd Street to Preston Street is scheduled to be closed through Thursday, October 10 for work in the area.

Kentucky Side:

 
Work scheduled for Tuesday, October 8:
•    The ramp from I-64 East to I-71 North is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 8 for sign removal.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
•    One lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to the I-71 North ramp is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 8 for sign removal.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Work scheduled for Wednesday, October 9:
•    The ramp from I-71 South to I-64 West is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, October 9 for sign removal.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
•    One lane of I-71 South from just east of Frankfort Avenue to the I-64 West ramp is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, October 9 for sign removal.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Work scheduled for Thursday, October 10:
•    The ramp from I-64 East to I-71 North is scheduled to close overnight Thursday, October 10 for temporary widening.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
•    The right lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to the I-71 North ramp is scheduled to close overnight Thursday, October 10 for temporary widening.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Work scheduled for Friday, October 11:
•    The right lane of I-65 South from Main Street to the Jefferson Street exit is scheduled to close overnight Friday, October 11 for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Work scheduled to begin Saturday, October 12:
•    The right lane of I-65 South from Main Street to the Jefferson Street exit is scheduled to close overnight Saturday, October 12-Monday, October 14 for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. Saturday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
 Louisville Streets:
 
Work scheduled to begin Friday, October 11:
•    The intersection of Preston Street and Jefferson Street is scheduled to close Friday, October 11-Monday, October 14 for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

Work scheduled to begin Monday, October 14:
•    The ramp from I-64 East to I-71 North is scheduled to close overnight Monday, October 14 for temporary widening.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
•    The right lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to the I-71 North ramp is scheduled to close overnight Monday, October 14 for temporary widening.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
•    The ramp from I-71 South to I-64 West is scheduled to close overnight Monday, October 14 for temporary widening.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
•    The right lane of I-71 South from just east of Frankfort Avenue to the I-64 West ramp is scheduled to close overnight Monday, October 14 for temporary widening.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
•    The right lane of I-65 South from Jefferson Street to Liberty Street is scheduled to close overnight Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15 for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.
Work scheduled to begin Wednesday, October 16:
•    The right lane of I-65 South from Jefferson Street to Floyd Street is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17 for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.
Louisville Streets:
 
Work scheduled for Monday, October 14:
•    Liberty Street from Floyd Street to Preston Street is scheduled to close overnight Monday, October 14 for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Work scheduled for Wednesday, October 16:
•    Floyd Street from Liberty Street to Muhammad Ali Boulevard is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, October 16 for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
Continuing Closures and Restrictions:
 
Kentucky Side:
•    The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through the spring of 2016.
•    The right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through 2016.
Indiana Side:
•    Broadway Street has closed from Court Avenue to 6th Street.  This includes the closure of the 6th Street ramp to I-65 North.  These are permanent closures.
•    7th Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street.  This is a permanent closure.
•    VFW Boulevard has closed from 7th Street to 9th Street.   This is a permanent closure.
•    US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes for several months.
•    US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane for several months.  Vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street.

The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur. Also, given the aggressive overall construction schedule for the project, Walsh DBT may shift work schedules when opportunities arise.
