LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Smoketown neighborhood rededicated the boxing gloves sculpture that once stood in what used to be Sheppard Square housing Friday morning.
The sculpture was moved when the city tore down the housing complex to rebuild new mixed housing units. It now sits along Hancock Street between Lampton and Jacob Streets.
Sculptor Ed Hamilton still has the sketch that led to the prized sculpture of boxing gloves that some say look like a heart from a certain angle.
Hamilton said Muhammad Ali was part of the inspiration, as he used to box at a gym in Smoketown.
