LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – WHAS11 has learned through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the ramp from I-65 northbound to I-64 West is closed due to broken concrete on a column of the elevated ramp.

The column has concrete falling off it and the rebar is exposed.

Engineers were at the scene inspecting the column and said the ramp is closed for at least the night.

“A decision was made to close the ramp as a precaution until a thorough inspection can be performed,” said Andy Barber, KYTC Downtown Crossing project manager.

Inspectors will check the ramp on Saturday morning and Walsh Construction Inc. plans to have a structural engineer on site.

The Kennedy Bridge is open; this closure is only for the ramp.

An alternative route for motorists would be I-65 North to I-264 West to I-64.

WHAS11 will bring you more information as it becomes available.
