LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Crews were called to Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in the 4600 block of Valley Station Road.

Crews were called to the scene around 6:45 Wednesday morning and brought the fire under control just after 7 a.m.

MetroSafe dispatcher said the call came in as an attic fire with a rescue.

WHAS11's Brittany Gonzalez said investigators believe the fire started in the chimney and spread to the attic. Apparently, the family did not have heat and was using the fire place to keep warm.

One person was rescued from the home but did not suffer any injuries. A firefighter did sustain minor injuries after he fell, but he is expected to be OK.

This call was the 20 call firefighters responded to in the past 24 hours. Other Kentuckiana fire departments also said they have seen a big increase in runs during this period as well.

Brittany has more in the video above.
