(WHAS11) -- Dozens of students at Louisville's Youth Performing Arts School got a chance to meet an Oscar winning music writer and even hear her perform.
Hillary Lindsey, along with fellow Nashville, Tennessee songwriter Brett James, were at the Youth Performing Arts School to talk about the music industry. Lindsey has written five of Carrie Underwood's number 1 singles and still gets excited every time she hears one of her songs on the radio.
"It just happened last month," she said.  I heard it for the first time and yanked the car over in someone's driveway and prayed to God please don't come out because I just want to listen to this song"
They also wrote a song for the ABC show 'Nashville.'
Lindsey and James will perform as a part of Music City Hit-Makers at the Louisville Orchestra Saturday.
