LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—For all the thirsty Derby attendees, maybe a mint julep will keep you refreshed during the races.
Woodford Reserve has a new twist on the class Derby drink, and it will be the most pricy drink at the 140th “Run for the Roses.”
This year, exclusively at the Derby, Woodford Reserve will have the drink in two different cups, costing either $1,000 or $2,000, and will include candied rose petals, celebrating the 89th Anniversary of the race’s designation as the “Run for the Roses.”
The silver cup will sell for $1,000 and the gold-plated cup will sell for $2,000 and will only be sold at this year’s Derby.
All proceeds from these special mint juleps go to the Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Center in Georgetown, Ky.
