LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Ukrainian woman who spent 11 years disfigured from a cancer misdiagnosis is now out of the hospital.

Officials say Lessya Kotelevskaya had a 16-hour surgery to fix her jaw last month.

She was just 19 when a doctor from Kazakhstan told her she had terminal cancer in the jaw.

Kotelevskaya immediately underwent intense radiation which left a hole in the right side of her cheek.

Later during a trip to Ukraine, doctors told Kotelevskaya she never had cancer.

She will undergo months of therapy.

The surgery was paid for by University Hospital.
