LOUISVILLE, Ky -- A Louisville mother is facing allegations that she left her 14-month-old child home alone with multiple things that pose a danger to a child that age.

According to police, Dawn Harris was arrested Tuesday morning in her home at 2300 Arbor Pointe Place. Police said she left her 14-month-old child home alone for about 40 minutes while the child was asleep, face down, on an adult plastic-wrapped mattress.

Police said there were multiple things in the apartment that were dangerous to a child: A window next to the bed which was left open and had no screen, two toilets with lids off, a bathtub filled with water, a kitchen knife on the counter and there was no gate to keep the child from going down the stairs.

Harris reportedly told police her sister was supposed to be watching the child, but her sister said she had not been to the home in several days.

Harris is charged with one count of wanton endangerment.
