LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)--  A woman accused of leaking information to an accused murdered has been acquitted of the charges.

Shanion Thurman was an employee for the Department of Public Advocacy and prosecutors alleged she released information about a witness to Ricky Kelly, who was at the time being investigated for a murder.

The judge ruled Thurman ‘not guilty’ before the case went to the jury.  The judge said she could not have known the information would lead to a threat against the witness.

That witness, Greg Sawyers, was murdered in July.  Sawyers had testified that he witnessed Kelly murder a man in the Old Shepherd Square housing complex.

James Robinson, the then boyfriend to Shanion Thurman, was convicted of aiding and abetting and charged with turning over the details to Ricky Kelly.

Kelly is set to go on trial in September.
