LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- Authorities are searching for clues that may lead them to uncover how two whooping cranes ended up shot to death in rural Western Kentucky.
Operation Migration officials said the cranes were found in near each other in November in Hopkins county.
The female was taken to a rehabilitation center for unsuccessful surgery, but had to be euthanized. The male crane was dead at the scene.
Bullet fragments were discovered in the cranes.
A reward is expected to be offered by a number of agencies in effort to uncover information about the killings.
