Poll:
Are you happy the health care reform bill passed?
(WHAS11) - What does the healthcare bill mean for you?
WHAS11 spoke with an agent whose job is to find insurance plans for small to medium sized companies in several states including Kentucky.
And the businesses he works with do want changes but not the ones voted on tonight in Washington that he says will drive up costs.
His customers say they are mad at Washington for not making the changes that could have brought down the cost of health insurance.
According to John Glascock, simply allowing insurance carriers to cross state lines would generate competition.
He's been telling employers that their tax rate will more than likely go up to help pay for the currently uninsured and that hike will more than likely be passed along to their employees who will pay higher rates.
In Kentucky, only one representative voted for reform Sunday night and that's Louisville’s John Yarmuth. He believes the reforms will help rein in costs and that this vote is historic.
There is agreement that some pieces of this bill do move health insurance in the right direction including those with pre-existing conditions will not be dropped from plans and the life-time caps on coverage, those will be dropped.
And the nearly 30 million currently uninsured will have health insurance.
