LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Lexington fisherman and his boat almost went over a dam and the fire department's first attempt at rescue didn't help the situation.

At one point the fisherman was using only his body weight to keep the boat from floating over the edge. Soon after, the local fire department attempted to rescue the fisherman, only to have their own boat caught in the current and get stuck alongside the fisherman's.

The rescue ended up working out but was certainly frantic for a while. Firefighters said there was a log trapped on the edge of the dam that probably saved everyone's life.
