OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- It's a lottery -- and the jackpot will be green.
Washington state is holding lotteries this month to issue legal marijuana retail licenses. The state is limiting the number of pot shop permits and there have been more applicants than licenses.
So, a random drawing will determine who gets to open pot stores in the most popular cities and counties. But the pot lottery winners still must clear the licensing requirements of the Liquor Control Board, which will supervise legal marijuana sales in the state.
