PEKIN, Ind. (WHAS11) – Police are looking into who called 911 from the home where a woman was found dead.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead Thursday morning, April 24, in Pekin, Ind.

Police said they discovered 41-year-old Kristi Williams’ body at a home in the 8500 block of State Road 335, just after 7 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from the same location.

The Kentucky Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and the preliminary results revealed Williams died from severe trauma to the neck area. Police said the final determination of the cause of death would not be determined for another six weeks.

Police remain at the house where they say a thorough sweep of the property continues. Williams' family said it’s the home of her boyfriend.

"We do have people of interest. We are speaking with those people, talking to them and as we gather more information from evidence, our detectives and their legwork, hopefully, we'll be able to make an arrest and bring the killer of Kristi to justice," Sgt. Jerry Goodin, with the Indiana State Police, said.

Family members began questioning Williams’ whereabouts when she did not show up for work Thursday in Greenville and did not answer her phone.

"She leaves behind a 19-year-old daughter. Tragically, that daughter just lost her father two and a half years ago to cancer. So, now she has to deal with this tragedy as well," Dan Voyles, Williams' nephew, said.
