LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) – University of Kentucky fans are mourning the loss of an iconic player from the 1940’s.
Wallace “Wah Wah” Jones, the last surviving member of Kentucky’s Fabulous Five, died at the age of 88.
Jones was an all-American in basketball and football under coach Bear Bryant and is also an Olympic champion.
Jones is a member of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame, the UK Athletic Hall of Fame and the Kentucky High School Hall of Fame.
Jones appeared at Rupp Arena in 2013 to raise the 2012 National Championship banner with former players of the Wildcats basketball team through the years.
