LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Friends and loved ones walked to 5th and Market on Sunday in memory of 24 year-old Cheryl Williamson who was killed last week.

Williamson was a senior at Western Kentucky University and was fatally shot last Sunday while home for the holidays. Williamson had gone to a party at The Gillespie witnesses say as she was leaving she got into an argument with other party goers and was shot in the chest.

Today, her friends and family members walked seven blocks in her honor. Her cousin, Kenyatta Drake who organized the event,  is now pushing for more security at downtown venues.

She says her cousins death should have been prevented.

Williamson was a fashion design major at WKU and was set to be the first person to graduate from college in her family this May. Her mother, Donnetta Williamson, says she has been touched by the overwhelming amount of support she has received from the community.

Police have still yet to make an arrest in this case.

Williamson’s funeral will be December 4th at 11am at the Bates Memorial Baptist Church.
