LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- This is the latest of a string of robberies on this same block and students are on edge.

The shooting happened at South Jackson Street and Liberty Street which is close to the UofL Medical Center.

Students WHAS11 spoke with on Monday said there is a lot of concern on the campus. Many park on the streets around the medical campus to avoid paying for a spot in the parking garage.

Some students said after these robberies, they don't feel safe walking around campus by themselves.

The University of Louisville released a statement earlier today after Monday’s armed robbery, it reads in part:

“A meeting was held today with students, faculty and staff at the dental school to offer counseling services, and we have notified our other faculty, staff and students on the HSC campus. The university will continue to provide information including safety updates and precautionary tips for working and living in an urban setting.

The University of Louisville works tirelessly to provide a safe environment for its faculty, staff and students at all of our campuses. In recent weeks, the UofL police have been teaming with LMPD and the UofL Hospital security staff to increase vehicle and foot patrols and have placed undercover officers in the area. In light of the recent incidents, the agencies will explore additional measures to further enhance safety at and around the Health Sciences Center campus.”
