Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - University of Louisville police are warning students about a scam involving credit card donations.

U of L police say the people asking for donations claim they are with Hare Krishna or another organization and ask individuals for their credit card numbers and then scan them into a cell phone.

Police say this allows them unlimited access to your credit card and it can be sold for others to use.

If you have been a victim you are urged to call U of L police at 852-6111.
