JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Jury selection got underway at the Clark County Courthouse Tuesday for a Southern Indiana woman accused of sexually abusing an underage relative.
Prosecutors said 35-year-old Juanita Fisher of Charlestown had sex with a male relative over the period of time when the victim was 9 to 11-years-old.
According to court documents, the abuse took place in Fisher’s home. The documents state she forced the young male to have sex with her, as well as have sex with men in front of the victim.
Fisher said she was “falsely accused.” At least that is what she claimed when she was arrested after escaping house arrest.
Fisher made a plea deal with prosecutors and was serving house arrest in connection with the accusations, but while serving her time at home police said she cut of her incarceration bracelet, stole her roommate’s debit card and took off.
That plea deal is now off the table and Fisher will face a jury.
Judge Daniel Moore has requested strict instruction for the media while covering this case in hopes of protecting the identity of any juveniles involved in this sensitive case.
Fisher is being tried on charges for child molesting, vicarious sexual gratification, incest and obstruction of justice.
