LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- For more than 2,000 people pushing on Facebook for Trader Joe’s to come to Louisville, the effort has paid off.
The grocery store chain has announced plans to open a St. Matthews location.
The store will be located in the Shelbyville Plaza in the building that was Craftsman Collection. Kiddie Kastle and Massage Envy will reportedly move to make room.
Trader Joe’s will also have a separate adjacent wine shop because Kentucky law does not allow wine sales in grocery stores.
The store carries mostly its own brands along with a large selection of organic food. It calls itself a “unique grocery store.” The employees are known for wearing their Hawaiian shirts. The nearest Trader Joe’s has been Cincinnati.
