GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) -- Police in suburban Indianapolis say the father of a 4-month-old girl faces a neglect charge after the child was found dead in a car in the heat.
The baby was found by police Saturday afternoon in Greenfield, about 25 miles west of Indianapolis.
Greenfield Police Chief John Jester says the baby's death is still under investigation, but that it appears she had been left in the car for "an extended period of time." The child was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Jester says the father, 18-year-old Joshua Stryzanski, faces a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death. He is currently being held in jail without bond.
Stryzanski's neighbors are shocked, saying he and his family are great people.
