(WHAS11) - Three tiny puppies left in a desolate area in Pike County to die.
A man checking gas lines in the area found them with a nearly-empty bag of dog food and no water.
He took them to a shelter and now the Shamrock Arrow Fund has taken them in.
One of the puppies was too sick and had to be euthanized but the other two are being nursed back to health.
WHAS11 asked officials with the organization what would prompt someone to abandon the puppies.
“I really think there are some people who don't value life and if they don't value this life, they're not going to value the life of children.
You know it escalates in abuse,” said Rebecca Eaves of the Shamrock Foundation.
The two 8 or 9-week-old puppies will be ready for adoption after a few more weeks of care.
In the meantime, the foundation needs your support.
