(WHAS 11)--If it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

If you receive a text message on your phone saying you've won a gift card to a popular retailer, experts say, it's likely a scam.

The Better Business Bureau says it's a popular scam happening now and that you should check with the retailer before believing you've won a prize.

 The Better Business Bureau says scammers are sending messages to random numbers and yours might happen to be one of them. These texts are not going to stop anytime soon.

They say the best thing to do is to not respond and delete the message.
