MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WHAS11) – A Memphis grandmother says she did nothing wrong, even though she left her grandchild sleeping insider her vehicle, which got repossessed.
Ruth Brown says her 4-year-old grandson Kevin was too heavy to carry from the car, so she left him in it.
The boy and his grandmother had returned from grocery shopping.
Brown says she went in her house to get someone to carry the sleeping child.
She says he was safe and her daughter’s boyfriend stood watch outside while she unloaded groceries.
A few minutes later, her car was repossessed with Kevin inside.
"So everybody want to blame me, right? Everybody wants to blame me. We are right here at the door ma'am. No harm can come to him because I came right back out to get him," Brown said.
Police have not determined if Brown will face any charges.
Officials with the Department of Child Services have stated that it is not looking into the case.
