LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A teenager has died after being shot just after midnight on Sunday morning at 35th and Broadway.
Authorities arrested Kyle Chambers, 22, of Huntingburg, Ind. in connection with this shooting. He is currently being held in Dubois, Ind., where he was taken into custody. Police have arrested a second suspect, Destiny Trusty, 22. Trusty was arrested on a warrant for murder in Dubois County, Ind. without incident.
Officials say the victim is 17-year-old Darius Miller Jr. and he was found in the parking lot of Walgreens with one gunshot wound.
Miller was set to start his senior year at Waggner High School.
His family described him as a respectful young man who loved his family. Miller had an 8-month-old daughter his family said he adored his baby.
Miller lives just around the corner from where he was shot. His aunt said he had just left his home for the evening.
Police said there was an altercation before the shooting happened. Friends of Miller said he and Chambers knew each other.
Miller's family said the teen loved sports and often talked about moving away from Louisville to give himself a better life. Funeral arrangements are pending.
