LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11/NEWS RELEASE) – TARC is increasing service into downtown Louisville and setting up five post-event boarding areas for Thunder Over Louisville on Saturday, April 12. TARC said the plan is virtually the same as in previous years.

Yellow signs with route information for Thunder Over Louisville will be posted on board all TARC coaches, designated bus stops and shelters in the coming days.

TARC will have reduced fare for those who present a TARC ID. During Thunder Over Louisville regular, one-way fare will be $1.75 for adults and $.80 for passengers over the age of 65 and riders with disabilities for the age of 6-17. Children under the age of five ride for free.

Buses on routes #71-Jeffersonville and #72-Clarksville, which travel to Louisville from Indiana, will not make return trips to Indiana after the fireworks due to the closure of the Clark Memorial (2nd Street) Bridge.

Post-event boarding will be restricted to five locations, all within blocks of the waterfront. Buses will operate until 11 p.m. at those locations (see list of routes below). Due to traffic, buses have limited access on downtown streets after the event.  The boarding locations are designed to keep buses out of heavy traffic as much as possible to get people home faster.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m, more buses will be added on downtown routes, improving the frequency of bus arrival times at stops and adding capacity. However, as the event draws closer, some downtown routes may see delays due to police barricades and heavy pedestrian traffic.
