LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – On a typical sunny day in the Clifton Heights neighborhood, you’ll see sidewalks filled with people walking their dogs and people riding their bikes.

While the residents of the 2600 block of Lindsay Avenue slept, lights shined brightly from police cars after shots rang out around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Residents describe hearing what they call an unfamiliar sound.

“I heard a loud pop. I thought somebody may have slammed a door loud,” one man said.

According to police, a 28-year-old black male was shot multiple times at the hands of 23-year-old Jeffrey Burgin.

It was a scary thought for Kyle Blackburn who lives yards away from where the shooting happened.

“It’s scary to think what might happen,” he said. “Especially me with my apartment and it has so many windows. It’s a shooting and you never know a stray bullet could come through,” he said.

Police say the shooting appears to be drug related and the victim knew Burgin.

Residents say they’ve noticed more and more traffic in their neighborhood.

The victim was taken to University Hospital where his condition is unknown.
