(WHAS11) -- Is living together the new marriage for women? According to a new survey, the answer is yes.
The National Center for Health Statistics says nearly half of women age 15 to 44 cohabited outside of marriage between 2006 and 2010.
That number was 43 percent in 2002.
The report is based on interviews with more than 12,000 women in that age group.
The study's lead author says some of the reasons more people are living together is a delay in the age at which people are marrying and couples waiting for improved financial stability.
