(WHAS11) - Nearly eight years after the murder of a University of Louisville student, the man sentenced to life in prison for her murder has had his conviction overturned.

Juan Pelegrin-Vidal's murder conviction was reversed by the Kentucky Supreme Court on Thursday.
The court ruled that the Jefferson County judge made an error by allowing a jury to use a transcript of a 911 call during the trial.
Pelegrin-Vidal was sentenced to life in prison back in 2007 for the murder of University of Louisville engineering student, Elaine Fonseca-Rodriguez..
