LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- LMPD responded to a standoff situation at 525 Auburndale Rd., where a subject threatened to commit suicide.

MetroSafe says that, as of 4:45 P.M., the standoff situation has ended. LMPD confirms that the suspect surrended and was taken to University Hospital for evaluation. No officers were injured. The suspect sustained bruises after being shot with bean bags. Auburndale Rd. should be open to traffic shortly.

The situation, which started this afternoon, led to heightened security and the holding of students past their normal dismissal time at nearby Iroquois High School and Olmstead South Middle School. The students have since been released. Students who could not be picked up due to police barricade have been transported to Iroquois High School for pick-up.
