LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A bronze statue of Squire Boone was presented to a Shelbyville elementary school on Monday, May 19.

Louisville resident Bill Burbank and the Squire Boone Statue Fund Committee agreed to donate a small statue to Painted Stone Elementary.

It's all in an effort to raise money for a six-foot statue of Squire Boone that will go on display in downtown Shelbyville.

Painted Stone Elementary is named after Squire Boone's settlement. The students also got a chance to learn about their school's name and Squire Boone's legacy.
