LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – One of the largest churches in the nation continues to expand in Kentuckiana.
Southeast Christian Church broke ground on their fourth campus in southwest Jefferson County, which is scheduled to be opened in the spring 2014.
“If they won’t come to us, that’s ok we are going to come to you, “ Executive Pastor Time Hester said.
The newest campus will sit on 10 acres of land off Dixie Highway and will be 54,000 square feet. Church members who live in Southwest Jefferson County say it takes them about 30 minutes to get to the main campus in Louisville and they are thrilled construction is set to start in the next few weeks.
“I think it’s just awesome that it’s in this area. It’s just neat more and more people will be able to go and learn about Jesus and come and learn about the Lord,” said church member Mary Coulter.
Lisa Corpus adds, “ This is much more convenient.”
Executive Pastor Tim Hester says the new campus will have a partnership will Christian Academy. Both facilities will use each other’s classroom space. Hester says he believes the new location will add around 2,000 new church members.
