LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A Southern Indiana WWII veteran was honored on Wednesday for his military service nearly 70 years ago.

Frank “Buster” Crockett was awarded the Medal of Honor from the French Legion for helping free the people of France from the Nazis and saving a family taken prisoner by a German soldier.

“I will cherish this day, this hour, till my last breath,” Crockett said.
